The Estes Park community is one of the
most pleasant valleys to live in. We typically have mild
winters while just a few miles away we are able to play
in the snow in Rocky Mountain National Park.
In the summer our mountain community enjoys temperatures
that are 10 to 20 degrees cooler than then Front Range
communities of Denver and Boulder. Afternoon thunderstorms
are common in the summer and usually quickly pass on to
the eastern prairie. Snow showers can occur at higher
elevations on Trail Ridge Road in the summer months of
June, July and August. It is always a good idea to have
at least a light jacket, hat and glove when hiking or
traveling in the high country. Expect to loose 3 to 5
degrees for each 1,000 feet of elevation you gain as you
drive or hike in Rocky.
Estes Park does have excellent spring and fall seasons,
but we know that the weather can quickly change to winter
when fronts move across the mountains or up from the east.
But it usually only last for a few days, then conditions
quickly revert to spring or fall.
