New Trail Ridge Road Status Phone Number

You may not know that our mountain make their own weather, so it is not uncommon to have snow in July or August at the top of Trail Ridge Road. It can be slippery and add a 20 mph wind, and you can have a white out. Such weather will only last for a few hours to a day, but if you are planning to cross over Trail Ridge Road, weather may hamper your travel. You also may find the road closed due to weather in early June and September/October due to weather.

Free days (weekends) in Rocky Mountain National Park:

Rocky Mountain National Park is providing opportunities for affordable vacations called "Free-Admission Weekends". These are FREE WEEKENDs in Rocky for June, July and August. The dates are:

  • June 20-21
  • July 18-19
  • August 15-16

"Estes Park has a length of twelve miles and a varied width from one to three miles. Its outline is beautifully irregular–being broken by invading ridges, between which the park swells out into glades, basins and glens." — Enos A. Mills

Special Events & Live Entertainment in Estes Park for Summer 2009:

  • Science Behind the Scenery Series — FREE! Every Thursday at 7:30 pm. Science Behind the Scenery Series at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center in Rocky Mountain National Park. Click on link for more details.
  • Greater Tuna — June 19 to August 30 — An outrageous live play by the National Park Players consiting of two men and 20 characters. The comedy with "Tex" appeal. "Greater Tuna" is the hilarious comedy about Texas’ third smallest town, where the Lion’s Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. The eclectic band of citizens that make up this town are portrayed by only two performers, making this satire on life in rural America even more delightful as they depict all of the inhabitants of Tuna – men, women, children and animals.
  • John Denver Tribute Concert — July 14, 2009. Plan to attend this popular annual event, mid July, in Estes Park featuring the John Denver Tribute Band, TropiCowboy Band, featuring Brad and Kathy Fitch.
  • Allenspark Run Like the Wind — Saturday July 18th at 9:00 am — 5K/10K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run at The Old Gallery in Allenspark on Saturday, July 18th Arts and Wellness Fair following the race All proceeds benefit Allenspark's new community and visitor center (20 miles west of Lyons and 15 miles south of Estes Park located on Hwy 7)
